What started as a hobby has turned into something more...

James started adult life as an Officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, and by chance and good fortune discovered a talent at the drawing table.  A self taught artist, James began by working solely in graphite.  After a time, he picked up a pastel pencil and discovered the pleasures of working with color.  His latest endeavor is working in silverpoint, an archaic medium that reached its peak during the Renaissance. 

James focuses mainly on people, with the majority of his work being portraits.  He finds the human face challenging, but infinitely rewarding.  His time spent living overseas and traveling throughout Asia has provided a foundation for much of his work.  

A foundation upon which his hobby has continued to grow...
